At Gurīn Energy, Assaad translates Board strategy into the business plan; directs and oversees execution of the plan through the selection, motivation and performance management of a high performing team; leads on origination, commercial negotiation and investment decision making for development opportunities; maintains relationships with Board, partners and commercial advisors.

Assaad has over 30 years of business experience and has been working in Asia for nearly 20 years, including leadership roles in renewables and climate mitigation for over 15 years.

He is a trustee of ClientEarth, an Advisory Board member of Eco-Business; a Board member of EB Impact, the Singaporean non-profit organisation focused on delivering training and programmes to Asia Pacific’s underserved communities to generate positive sustainable development; host of The Angry Clean Energy Guy podcast; and a member of the International Council of the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine;

Assaad is a graduate of Syracuse University (summa cum laude) and holds an MBA from Columbia University in New York and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Honoris Causa in Climate Change, Sustainable Development and International Cooperation from Teri University in India.

Based in Singapore, Chris is responsible for security and resilience at Gurīn Energy, where he leads in identifying, mitigating and managing security risks across physical, project and cyber domains.

Having most recently served as a senior executive in the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in London, Chris has extensive experience developing networks across government and the private sector in the international security and partnerships space. Chris held senior diplomatic roles in Indonesia, Afghanistan, South Korea and the United Kingdom, and he collaborated on counter-terrorism efforts across Australian government agencies in Australia and overseas.

Chris holds a BA (Political Science) and BSc (Psychology) from the Australian National University, and a MSc (Finance, with Distinction) from the University of Wales. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD) and is a Visiting Fellow at Judge Business School, University of Cambridge.

Based in Singapore, Emma is responsible for overall leadership and direction of ESG to create long term value for our employees, shareholders and the communities in which we operate. Emma maintains and embeds leading ESG practices to manage risk and leverage opportunities throughout development, construction and operation of all projects; develops, mentors and supports the country leads and internal teams; and manages internal and external reporting.

Emma brings over 20 years of experience in sustainability from multiple industry sectors and holds a BSc from the University of Sydney and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Based in Jakarta, Enda is responsible for the creation and delivery of renewable energy projects in the country. Prior to joining Gurin, Enda was a country manager for a renewable energy company opening the country’s first exposure to large scale green hydrogen and green ammonia production and domestic use.

From 2001 until 2021, Enda worked in the public sector in several government agencies including the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Indonesia from 2015 until 2019. During this time, Enda authored and led the work in reforming government policies and business process adjustments. Among them include sustainable financing, improvements in education spending, energy transition and community driven development.

Enda also served in the World Bank from 2010 until 2015 focusing on Public Sector and Public Financial Management (PFM) reforms. Enda has authored several books on PFM reforms, and the country’s attempt to reduce marine debris. Enda holds a master’s degree in Economics, Finance and Management from the University of Bristol, UK.

Based in Manila, Estelito is mainly responsible for overseeing the construction and operations of Gurīn Energy’s renewable energy projects in the Philippines to ensure they meet the company’s rigorous operating and safety standards. As Co-country Manager of the Philippines, he also reviews the technical aspects of all business development for projects in the pipeline.

Estelito brings a wealth of experience in the energy and manufacturing sector, especially in solar energy. Prior to venturing into renewables, he worked in for a number of multi-national manufacturing companies across a range of functions. This includes Production, EHS, Maintenance, Warehousing, Production Planning and Inventory Control, Quality Management, Dispatch and Delivery, and in different product lines. As a result, Estelito is a proven team leader well versed in managing and collaborating with teams from diverse backgrounds.

He holds a degree of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Mapua University (previously the Mapua Institute of Technology) and passed the Board of Mechanical Engineering.

At Gurīn Energy, Franck leads on all subjects related to energy storage and flexibility; has overall responsibility for projects from development, construction to operations; brings business development and technical expertise; maintains relationships with equipment suppliers, local stakeholders and EPC.

Franck has over 25 years of business experience within the energy sector including 10 years in the energy storage and flexibility area in Europe, Asia and Middle East.

He holds a Master of Economics and a Post Master of Industrial Strategy from Paris Pantheon Sorbonne University in France.

Based in Singapore, Gopal is responsible for the delivery of Gurīn Energy’s renewable energy projects across the region, tapping over 30 years of experience in the power sector in consulting, EPC management and operations.

Gopal brings extensive experience in the development and delivery of complex large-scale thermal projects from conception to completion, across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and India.

Prior to joining Gurīn Energy, he was instrumental in the development of LNG and gas power projects in Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore with a major Japanese developer.

Gopal holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with distinction from Bangalore University, India and an Advanced Management Program from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and HEC Paris.

Based in Singapore, Hannah is responsible for communications at Gurin Energy, where she develops and delivers communications strategies for corporate communications, brand building and reputation management.

She brings over 13 years of experience in media and corporate communications, most recently as part of consumer goods giant Unilever’s global communications function with a focus on palm oil, sustainable sourcing and nature. Previously, she was a journalist and covered current affairs, sustainability and business news, as well as leading the development of branded content and programming for regional thought leadership events.

Hannah graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in Sociology.

At Gurīn Energy, Hwee Ping co-heads the Project Management Office, overseeing project development, project monitoring and reporting. He also leads business origination efforts for the Malaysia market.

Hwee Ping brings more than 22 years of experience in energy transition and core infrastructure, spanning greenfield project development, M&A, capital raising, strategic partnerships, PPP/P3 structures, and EPC delivery across Southeast Asia, China, India, the Middle East, and Africa.

Before joining Gurīn Energy, he held roles in PwC’s Capital Projects and Infrastructure (CP&I) practice and Corporate Finance teams.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science (Business) from the National University of Singapore and an MBA from Escuela de Organización Industrial (Spain).

He is based in Singapore.

As Director of Engineering at Gurīn Energy, Janaki provides technical leadership across the company’s renewable energy portfolio. He leads the engineering function with accountability for techno-commercial strategy, design governance, and delivery excellence.

With over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, his career spans the full project lifecycle, encompassing roles across consulting, R&D, project engineering design, and execution, underpinned by deep expertise in grid-connected power systems. He has led the engineering and delivery of utility-scale renewable and energy storage assets, with a particular focus on design, technology selection, and system integration across diverse regulatory environments in Asia and Australia.

A recognised technology leader, Janaki plays a critical role in advancing reliable, grid-ready renewable solutions. He holds multiple patents in power systems and plant control technologies and a Master’s degree in Power Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

Janaki is based in Singapore.

Based in Singapore, Kajal is responsible for implementing new projects and exit strategies; the structuring, negotiating and documentation of all the project investments and development opportunities and other commercial arrangements. Working closely with the in-country teams, the technical teams and her finance colleagues, Kajal manages the commercial, operational and legal aspects of both development and operating projects across Asia, as well leading the reporting function.

Kajal holds a Socio-Legal Sciences degree and a Law degree from the Symbiosis International University, India, and brings over 19 years of experience in transactions and investments from multiple industry sectors.

Based in Singapore, Kar Min is responsible for strategy at Gurīn Energy, where she helps drive and execute the company’s strategic initiatives and priorities.

Previously a partner at a major consulting firm, Kar Min brings a deep and rich experience in corporate strategy and sustainability as a management consultant, working for many years with energy companies and governments across Southeast Asia on green growth strategies and decarbonisation, including renewables and energy storage. She has also helped implement business transformation efforts ranging from digital acceleration to operating model and process improvements.

Kar Min graduated from Princeton University with a degree in History.

Based in Singapore, Kian Chong co-heads the Project Management Office at Gurīn Energy, where he oversees investment evaluation, financial modelling and project feasibility across the company’s portfolio to support investment decision-making and project execution.

Prior to joining Gurīn Energy, Kian Chong spent close to 7 years at SP Group, where he led regional investments and business development initiatives across Asia, Europe and the Middle East, and was also involved in regulatory management, including financial modelling and engagement with regulators to support tariff and revenue frameworks for regulated assets.

He began his career at PwC, gaining experience in audit and transaction advisory, including financial due diligence and fund audits.

Kian Chong holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) from Nanyang Technological University, is a Chartered Accountant (Singapore), and has passed Level III of the CFA Program.

At Gurīn Energy, Linda handles financial and tax reporting and compliance, complex special finance projects, implements financial controls and ensures compliance with transfer pricing.

Linda started her career in the Assurance department of PwC before moving into the renewables sector.

She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Nanyang Business School and is a Chartered Accountant (CA) from the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).

Linda is based in Singapore.

Based in Singapore, Mayen is responsible for the provision of legal, risk and compliance coverage, ensuring the business receives legal advice and support at all stages in the development, financing, construction and operation of sustainable utility-scale solar, wind and energy storage projects. She is also involved in developing business strategy and providing strategic legal advice to management.

Mayen brings significant experience in energy infrastructure projects in the maritime and power generation sectors and has worked on projects across the APAC and EMEA regions. She is admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales and holds a BA (Hons) Law from the University of Hertfordshire, England.

At Gurīn Energy, Michael executes business plans into annual budgets and multi-year financial forecasts; maintains standards of financial governance and management, analysis and reporting; develops and manages financial and support staff; leads on all financial and modelling aspects of investment decision-making and project development, oversees all debt financing matters and maintains relationships with banks, financial advisors and investor teams.

Michael holds an MA from the University of St Andrews in Scotland and is an ICAEW qualified Chartered Accountant who brings three decades of experience of finance and capital markets and a strong knowledge of the international investment and banking communities.

Nueng is the Country Manager for Thailand at Gurīn Energy, leading the company’s growth, investment strategy, and project execution in the Thai renewable energy market. She oversees origination, commercial structuring, development, construction, and operations, ensuring disciplined capital deployment, regulatory compliance, and strong ESG performance.

With over 14 years of experience in the Thai power sector, Nueng has a proven track record of delivering bankable renewable energy assets, managing key government and commercial partnerships, and navigating complex policy and permitting frameworks.

She holds a B.E. from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi and an Executive MBA from The Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University. Nueng is based in Bangkok.

At Gurīn Energy, Bob maintains standards of technical excellence, mentoring and developing country leads and technical directors; leads on all technical and regulatory aspects of investment decision making and project development; has overall responsibility for projects during construction and operations; maintains relationships with technical advisors, regulators and TSOs / DSOs / offtakers and is ESG lead.

Bob has over 40 years of business experience including 25 years in the Asian power sector.

He holds a B.A. from Carroll College, Montana and an M.A. from the University of Texas.

Sam has been involved in multiple onshore wind and solar development projects across Korea for over two decades. He is passionate about driving large-scale renewable energy initiatives that engage local communities and align with the interests of key stakeholders to set industry standards in Korea.

He brings over 30 years of diverse experience across multiple industries, including 6 years in real estate development, 7 years in retail expansion, and a tenure as PR Director at Carrefour Korea. For the past 18 years, he has specialised in energy advisory, serving as the Country Representative of AWR Lloyd and Orchid Group in South Korea.

Since establishing AWR Lloyd Korea in 2008, Sam has delivered a wide range of advisory services to many of Korea’s leading corporations, financial institutions, and all of the “Big Three” credit rating agencies as well as the “Big Four” accounting firms. His work spans feasibility studies and financial modelling for major coal, LNG, and renewable energy projects, both onshore and offshore, often in collaboration with KDB and Korea Ratings.

Based in Seoul, Seongoh joined Gurīn Energy leads the development of solar, onshore wind, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in South Korea. He brings 30 years of business experience, including over a decade in renewable energy.

He began his career as a Certified Public Accountant at Ernst & Young Korea, auditing major energy and infrastructure companies. From 2000 to 2024, he worked at Korea Ratings Corporation, a Fitch Group company, where he led investment evaluations for IPPs, PPPs, and renewable energy projects both in South Korea and abroad.

Throughout his career, Seongoh has also served as an advisor to several key public institutions, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Korea Energy Agency, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Korea Development Institute (KDI), and the National Pension Service. In these roles, he has contributed to shaping national policies on infrastructure investment and the energy transition.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA in Business Administration from Yonsei University, completed a Master’s programme in Energy and Resources Engineering at Hanyang University, and earned a Ph.D. in Climate and Energy Policy from the Graduate School of Climate Change at Sejong University.

Based in Singapore, Stanley oversees all financial aspects of the business and drives the Group’s financial strategy, planning and management, including statutory reporting, financial controls, budgeting, treasury & cash management and taxation. He started his career in the Assurance department of PricewaterhouseCoopers before moving out to the commercial sector. Stanley is also a volunteer Board/ Committee member of certain not-for-profit organisations in Singapore.

Stanley holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Nanyang Business School and is a Chartered Accountant (CA) from the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).

He was most recently Country Head of Japan and Head of Sales for Japan and Korea at WoodMackenzie, where he led the company’s research and consultancy business for Japanese and Korean energy clients in a wide range of global energy resource markets. Prior to that, Ushio was responsible for Enel X’s entry into and power flexibility business in Japan as Country Manager. He also attained significant experience in Japan’s solar business as the head of REC Solar Japan.

Ushio graduated from the Tokyo Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree. He also holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University in the United States.
